Has anyone used Tornado?

I just purchase a file transfer device called Tornado (30 days to try it).
It looks somewhat like a two ended tape measure where you pull USB cords out
to attach to two computers to transfer files. Here's my question (which the
instructions and web site don't seem to answer). Can I transfer files from
as XP computer to my Vista HP computer? My hope is to transfer files from
the desktop XP to the laptop XP and then transfer those to the Vista. Is
this possible? It claims to be compatible with all versions of Windows but I
wonder if that means XP to XP but perhaps not XP to Vista. Hope someone
knows before I try it and possibly mess up Vista!

Personal opinion: invest in a small network switch, a couple of NICs, and
some patch cables (i.e. create a LAN). It gives you more control over what
gets copied to where. I just don't trust applications that claim to do it
all for you...especially when it comes to my data.

I know that Vista has the Easy Transfer system - but...it requires
downloading software on each computer and using CDs or DVDs if the computers
are not together. This Tornado just shows the files on both computers and
allows you to drag the files you want from one computer to another without
software or CDs or purchasing the Easy Transfer cable.

Perhaps you could try it with just one file as a test?

It is not listed as Vista compatible on the product sheet at the website.

That said, you have 30 days? If it doesn't work, send it back as you
already know you have other options. Since you have a 36 day trial period,
you have nothing to lose.

The old XP computers will no longer be used so I want to make a one time
transfer. I thought maybe this was a good way to transfer files because I
could copy them one at a time and check to see that everything is
transferred correctly. I plan to use the PC Eraser on the two old computers.

It says it's Vista compatible and that's why I decided to try it. It was
only $39.95 rather than the price of $90.

Click Product Sheet in the left column, it does not list Vista but that
might be an oversight.
