Vista Home Premium
Recently installed a program. Not going to stake my life this is
related to the new program, but now Explorer shows 3 new drives - all
Removable and all No Media. Problem is, I have added no new drives.
The PC has 4 slots for memory cards and each slot appears as a drive.
The C drive shows as does an NAS drive. I have no other drives attached
to the PC. Where did I get these new drives?

Possibly you installed a printer with SD slots?

Ah, I have a printer with SD slots but have had it since spring.
I suppose it is possible the drives were just now recognized. Possible?

Yes, it's possible. Stick something in one of them and see if it shows up!

OK, Malke, did that.
Nutin happened on the PC, kinda.
The printer 'found' the card in the slot and asked i Inted tto connect
the PC. ced 'Yes.' Got a message from Norton - I gave the transfer
permission. Then . . . nutin.
I suppose this means some communication got the the PC (Norton) but my
new drives show nothing.

And if it matters, when I unplug (electrical) the network printer, the
printer disappears from Explorer but the 3 mystery drives remain. Plug
back in and turning on the printer and it reappears in Explorer.

Talk about confusion - the slots" on the printer do not "Show up" as
drives - they function only with the printer - in fact it is not necessary
to have the printer connected to a computer to utilize them.

Slots on a PC do "show up" as drives.

wrong.
at least in HP and Cannon printers, card slots can be accessed from the
computer, so, in windows it creats a drive letter for each card slot
