I have NO sound for windows media player 11

I had installed windows media player 11 when the update was available. since
then, I have no sound. I can rip and burn CD's but I cannot hear them on my
computer. I have checked everything I could to see what the problem was. I
keep getting error messages and then I am told to exit the program. Whatever
I try to listen to on WMP11 will not work no matter what. My husband who is
very computer literate and my son both caqnnot figure out what is wrong. I
really would like to hear my music on my computer!

Uninstall WMP11 via Add/Remove Programs | OK now?
