I just dont want to lose my Xp Because I have it set up really good and
it has taken me a while to Set it up as Vista (Appearance)

Hard disks are cheap now. Buy an external and make an image backup, or just
swap disks and try Vista on the new one.

Alternatively, you could go for a dual boot system.

But more importantly, there is no such thing as "Extreme Edition R2" as far
as I know. If you downloaded this from elsewhere than the Microsoft site, it
probably is an illegal copy (and infested with malware).

Buy a new hard drive. Remove the hard drive in your case. Replace it
with the new hard drive and install Vista, although you'll probably be
sorry you did. I would recommend trying a real operating system, not
Vista the Pig. Check out http://www.ubuntu.com/. It's free and much more
user friendly than Vista.

If you have a copy of "Vista Extreme Edition R2", I can assure you
it is 100% bogus! Microsoft has never released a "Vista Extreme Edition
R2". Where did you come across this bogus version?

You can either buy another internal hard drive and install Vista to that new
internal drive (Windows will not install to external USB/Firewire drives).
Alternatively you can create another partition on your hard drive, assuming
you have enough room and then install Vista to the second partition.

There is one other option which may actually be best for you; use a virtual
machine. Install Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 (which is free - Google for
Virtual PC 2007) and then install Vista onto the virtual PC. You must have
at least 2GB of RAM to do this though. Obviously, because Vista will be
installed on a virtual machine you will not see all the 'bells and whistles'
or 'eye candy' (things such as AERO etc). This is because the virtual PC
only uses emulated drivers but it will give you an idea of what Vista is
like.

I dual boot and also use a virtual machine, although I use VMware
Workstation (this isn't free). So that you can see what I mean take a look
at this link from my website, admittedly it refers to VMware workstation but
all virtual pc software works on the same principle:

VoiceKillaz, I've only just noticed that you refer to 'Vista Extreme Edition
R2'. There is no such edition in the Vista range. The only available
versions are:

Home Basic
Home Premium
Business
Enterprise
Ultimate

If you have downloaded Vista Extreme Edition R2 then it is an illegal
'modded' copy. It certainly is 'not' supported by Microsoft.
