have you seen my desktop?

My desktop has seemed to have dissapeared, it has been this way for 2-3
months now and im just getting irritated

from a normal start up it all goes fine the vista loading then the login
and then the welcome sign, but from there i goes to crap

when it finally is all done all that i see is a black screen, my cursor, and
my documents folder open.

well that is my only problem, i have only 2-3 programs oon my comp that i
got myself 3DS MAX 2008, Avast Anti virus, Spyware Doctor

Obviously something you have running in the background is causing the issue.
My guess would be 3DS Max, but that is only a guess. You need to
troubleshoot this and the way to do that is to do a clean boot and then, if
all is well, add things back one at a time until you find the culprit.
