Havent had a microsoft update since Aug 2004!!!

Checking my history log of microsoft updates (which is set to automatic) I
find all updates have failed since AUGUST 2004. Error code 0x80246008.
Help!!! I have checked everything I have been told to check, but it still
wont update any updates.

What states in you C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log when attempted.

Have you requested to turn any installs off?

Check the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SvcHost

and double-click on the netsvcs value in the right panel. Make sure that
BITS is in the list.

I spent a whole week with someone else having the same problem (after I
myself having the same problem months before and forgot the solution).

That was the solution. If BITS is not in the list, add it and reboot.
