Having network setup problems

I have an XP Pro desktop and a Vista Home Premium laptop. I am the only
user of both. I want both to have full access to the other's drives. I have
the Vista laptop reading and writing to all of the XP's drives. On the XP
desktop I do find the Vista's C drive buried under:
My Network Places -> Entire Network -> Microsoft Windows Network ->
Workgroup -> Sonylaptop -> C
But it says C is not accessible when clicked.

On the laptop in the "Network and Sharing Center" I have turned on
everything, except Password protected sharing is Off. (Neither machine has
a password to log on.) I have gone to the laptop's C: drive properties and
have sharing turned on. Back at the "Network and Sharing Center" when I
click on "Show me all the shared network folders on the computer" the
screen is empty. What am I missing?

Correction. "Show me all the shared network folders on the computer" does
list everything, including the C: drive files. It is "Show me all the files
and folders I am sharing" that is coming up blank.

I can't answer your question because I'm having the exact same problem. My
laptop's (Vista) shared folders show up on my desktop (XP), but when I click
on them I'm told I don't have the necessary permissions. I've also turned off
password requirements.

The only way I've been able to access my laptop files from my desktop is by
moving them to a Public folder. Obviously, that's not really a solution,
because you can't move your entire folder structure to Public.

I have no problem accessing my desktop folders on my laptop.

I would love to find out the solution to this major problem.
