Having Same Probs with Defender update AGAIN...

Yesterday I was very happy to discover the post with the link to how to
delete the Defender definition file then start anew.
http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=915105

** The above worked great yesterday BUT...

Today the same problem has started All Over AGAIN and I'm now stuck with
repeatedly receiving notifications to download and install the new
definitions for Windows Defender: 1.14.1353.2 (KB915597)

QUESTION of the DAY: Am I as well as others going to have to go through the
same routine of deleting the definition file EACH time a NEW Definition file
is available for Windows Defender?

I hope this glitch can be fixed because I don't need additional hassles to
contend with on a regular basis.

Thank you for any assistance you can offer.

Microsoft has established separate newsgroups for Windows Defender Beta2
support and comments. This is not one of them.

Hi d.arbib.

Thanks for your input on the problem. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to
uninstall & reinstall the program but may resort to that after I review the
site that I just learned about that is specifically for the Defender program.

Yeah - me too, I have been told off for using this group for this probolem,
but as far as I am concerned the problem is that the update and then unistall
has busted Windows Update - I couldn't give a monkeys about WD, and shall
certainly not touch it again, but

1. I HAVE a valid XP license, pace Mr. Carey Wotsisname
2. I'd like to be able to use Windows Update again

Hi PA Bear,

I appreciate you informing me of the separate newsgroup for the Defender
program.

I came to this newsgroup due to the link that is posted for the Defender
program at Microsoft Updates. While at Updates, I clicked on the
Help/Support link which is where I was given info to come to this specific
newsgroup.

So someone may want to place the correct link there which takes users to the
newsgroup that is specifically for the Defender program.

Solved the update problem - this may help

1. I uninstalled and re-installed Defender
2. This resulted in signature 1.0.0.0
3. Ran Msiexec /x {A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C}, and then clicked
OK.
4. Opened defender and updated from tab to right of questionmark
Defender was updated to latest (March 6th) version
