Having smaller icons on the Desktop?

There was an easy way to do this in XP if I'm not mistaken, but I can't find
the option in Vista Ultimate: I would like the icons on my Desktop to be
smaller in size, as the icons of some of my older programs look grainy when
enlarged as much as they are.

How would I go about doing this? Changing the resolution has not
particularly helped.

Thanks!

Right click on the desktop - click on view and then choose what you want...

Right-click on the desktop, from the context menu select View > Classic
icons.

you can also press the ctrl key and keep it down and at the same time use
the mouse scroll wheel up and down, to adjust the size dynamically

As long as you are using the AERO theme, you cannot access the icon size
feature in Vista. If you were using the Classic theme, it is available from
Personalization/Color, Advanced button, set Item drop box to 'Icon' and set
the size

The easiest way to do this is to click on the desktop, then hold down
the Windows key and scroll the mouse wheel. One way makes the icons
bigger, the other smaller.

Note that this is a Windows standard, and also works in most
applications.
