Having trouble adding contacts to WIndows Live Messenger

I have tried unsuccessfully to add new contacts to my Windows Live Messenger.

I add the email address, as normal, and see the contact's email on my
contact list; however, when I try to "message" them, I get the notification
"contact is not on your contact list, click here to add him/her". When I

Oddly, two of the people I have added, can see me online and can mesage me,
but I cannot message them back; I still get the same "contact is not on your
list" message. I've tried deleting them, readding them; deleting other
contacts first and adding them... I've tried SEVERAL times!!!
Any suggestions??

Greetings,

To correct this problem, shut down Messenger entirely by right-clicking on its icon in the
notification area and choosing Exit, then download and run this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/dow...lmpolicies.reg

Then try signing in again. It make take 30-40 seconds after signing in before you see any
change. If they don't appear online after this you may need to delete and readd them once
more.

Hey Jonathan,

I have since run the link and was able to add the first person I couldn't
previously see online; however, I've been trying to add new people and the
same thing is happening - am I going to have to run this program every time I
want to add a new contact??

Thanks Much,
Jodes

Hello all,

I used your download and that partially fixed my problem, though I still
cannot move contacts from my 'Non-messaging Contacts' into my friends list. I
also cannot open hotmail from the link or from the email notification pop-up.
Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Jamie
