This is the error message that I receive when I try and send and email. What
does it mean?

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

Where is the second part of the error message? That is the most important.

Mail : Tools: Select Account: Properties: Servers: then X in box "my
server requires authetication". worth a try!

Make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
Enable the "My server requires authentication" option.

I am having the same issue. The "my server requires authentication" option
is checked, my anti-virus outgoing email scanner is turned off; what else can
I do?

Don't just assume that your issue is the same.
If you would like some custom help, right-click on your error message,
copy, then paste it into a reply here. We can't do much troubleshooting
without the complete error message.

A lot of people have the same problem, they can receive but they cannot
send.
If they cannot send how did they send to this group all these messages ???
Mistery

I resolved my problem; as you told me, I installed Windows Live.
Now in my computer I have together Windows mail and Windows Live Mail
And all work very well except WM witch cannot send.
I send you this mail by the forwarding option

Thanks
