I'm able to send messages no problem, but can't receive. I've searched the
WEB and this is a known problem with Vista and Outlook 2003.

I've checked the KB and found only one article that discus's this issue
KB930008. It only pertains to MSN/Hotmail accounts. But it does mention
POP# issues.

I'm looking for a higher level discussion on the subject, other then usual
entry level or first level suggestions

Yes to the following suggestions;
- it works fine on non Vista systems
-I've recreated the account several times
-all fixes and patches have been applied

Thank You for your help
Herb

And what have the folks in microsoft.public.outlook.general say about this?
And didn't Microsoft release an Outlook Connector for MSN/Hotmail accounts?
Maybe that will provide better compatibility and stability under Vista since
you using the old WebDAV method of accessing Hotmail email in Outlook.

If we were using a MSN/Hotmail account I'm sure this would be the solution.
We're an email account from our ISP! Sorry I wasn't more specific in my
initial post.

have you installed service pack 3 for office 2003 that solves lots of office
related problems?
Outlook 2003 had many issues discussed on other newsgroups.

Have you got your ISP's Mail Servers set up correctly?
Some set them as:
pop.ispname.com and smtp.ispname.com and others set them:

mail.ispname.net and mail.ispname.net or .com

Ring your ISP and ask what their mail servers are.

I've installed Vista and Outlook 2003 on many computers accessing both
Exchange, Exchange over the Internet, POP3, and IMAP accounts. I haven't had
problems with any of them except when a security program was interfering.
The worst culprits were Zone Alarm, closely followed by Norton and McAfee. I
had one glitch with AVG on one computer as well. What is the exact error you
get in Outlook? What security programs are you running? Where is the .PST
file stored?
