HDGIANTS.COM

Has anybody else noticed that Windows Media Player 11 on Windows XP SP3 hangs
on open? I've tracked it down to WMP querying for www.hdgiants.com which is
no longer up. Eventually WMP times out and you can use it. I'm not using
hdgiants.com for DRM and its not my selected store. This is occuring
enterprise wide. Does MS offer any updates or ways to stop this behavior?

I have the exact same problem as you. When WMP tries to access
www.hdgiants.com, it hangs our users' WMP for 90 to 120 seconds. We have
found no way around this enterprise wide. Singular fix is to create an entry
in the computer's host file to point www.hdgiants.com to 127.0.0.1, but this
is by no means an enterprise solution. I have submitted a ticket for MSFT
for resolution of this.

Would you midn sharing if they have anything helpful to offer? We have been
either rolling back to 9 because it affects 10 also or using the hosts file
thing.
