Hear but cannot See

Running latest version of MS Media Player, XP.

When inserting a DVD, I received an error message that a codec was needed.
Clicked on web help, and purchased PureVideo Bronze. After installation, ran
a DVD, can hear it, but cannot see the video. Slipped in a different DVD,
same thing.

Any help/direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Joe

Just to add to this...
Tools-->Options-->Performance-->there I reduced the video acceleration to
half then to none. Still no video.

Codec(s),are not the problem,& not sure what purevideo is..The usual
problem(s) with dvds & a pc is the lack of a dvd encoder...Not that you or
WMP really needs it but its required due to user rights licenseing & giving
charity money to hollywood execs..To get a dvd encoder, choose from windows
media lists at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...r/plugins.aspx
Or,go to downloads.com & get a free temp one,or get a ATI video card,ATI
then lets you install one for free, nvidia charges for one..

Andrew,

First, GREATLY appreciate the response.

So the PureVideo is the product from NVIDIA that I downloaded from
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...r/plugins.aspx (see the
last choice under Windows XP, chose bronze for $19.95). No video. And I
just downloaded a decoder from CNET downloads.com. Again, audio but no video.

Please stick with me on this: need guidance. Thanks!
