When I attempt to launch "Help and Support" on the Start menu I receive an
error message of "Internet Explorer cannot download from / from help.
Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site".

Any ideas how to repair this?

go to control panel , administration tools, services, and see if the help
and support service is running, if not start it manualy and see if that
solves your problem,

tell me please what happens.. since this is strange

What is the exact name of the service? I don't see anything at all in the
services running or otherwise that is called either Help or Support.

Well, I have to say that things seem to have improved since a few months
ago. I rec'd many error messages with Updates when I used Vista and now I
download the latest Update and things go well.

I'm curious to know what happened behind the scenes.
