Hi there.

I have an Inspiron 1525 laptop with Windows Vista installed. It has
always performed well until yesturday. My girlfriend was running tons of
things on the laptop and I closed one of the windows which caused the
laptop to crash. I had no choice but to hold the power button for 10
seconds and let it switch off. Having turned it back on; I was given the
decision to Start Windows Normally or to Repair Windows (which was
recommened). I tried the repair for 2 hours. Nothing. Switch it off;
tried normal windows. Nothing. It just wouldn't load. I've tried safe
mode and last known configuration (after pressing f8) and still can't
get on.

This morning before work I turned on the laptop in Repair mode. After
several hours when I returned; a Blue screen has appeared stating the
following:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent
damage to your computer.

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart
you computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed
(I can't do this as I can't get on to windows :\). If this is a new
installation; as your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows
updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or
software (Again I can't do as I can't get on). Disable BIOS memory
options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to
remove or disable components, restart your computer, press f8 to select
Advanced startup options, and then select Safe Mode. (Safe Mode will not
load windows either; it just keeps going but never loads it; same as
when I try to start it normally).

Techical information:

*** STOP: 0x00000050 (0xE39C47D8, 0x00000000, 0x87DFA0F2, 0x00000002)

Please help me D= I don't want to loose everything on my laptop.

First thing to do is rule out a memory problem, which is a common (but not
definite) cause of that message. Download memtest and create the bootable CD
and run it, then post back with the results.

Could be a memory problem. If you have a Vista DVD, boot from it. On the
Install Windows screen, click Repair your computer. In the System Recovery
Options choose your operating system and click Next. Then click Windows
Memory Diagnostic Tool. Press F1 to set the options for the test. Then press
F10 to continue. I suggest you run the Extended test.
