Help! I can't see text typed in except in history....

I'm not sure what happened, but now when I type in text, it just seems to
disappear. I can see the notification when someone is replying to me, but I
cannot see their reply. The part of the window where all that used to appear
is now just blank except for "*_________" in there twice. If I click on it,
then a conversation history window appears and i can see the text that I
typed and that others typed to me there in the history window. But, why can't
i see it live as it is being typed? and where did the "*____________" come
from? I can't delete it!

No wonder what can that be. However, because you describe it as a link,
might be connected with the option "Show my last conversation on a new
window" (Tools>Options>Messages). Is it checked?

I just figured out what the problem was,,,, uninstall windows live 8.5 and
re-install windows live 8.1
