I have 5 users on a samll Windows server 2000 domain. I have a new server
with Windows 2003 SBS. I have manually created the new users in the SBS. I'm
going to join the 5 workstations to the new domian but would like to have the
users have the some desktop and programs ruinning in the new domain. I do not
want to use the migration ustilites as they seem a bit heavy for 5 users.

My understanding is you can just copy some files from the old user folder in
Docs and Settings to the new user folder created when you log them in the
first time in the new domain.

Here are my 2 questions:

1. When you look at the documents and settings folders, what should be
copied over to the new profile so the user has the same look and feel and
what should not? I understand there are some files that should not be copied
or it will break things.

2. Will the programs still run the same after they log into the new domain
(office, etc)

Thanks so much,

sd

Logon as the new user to create a new profile, then logoff. Logon as admin,
copy their old profile to the new profile. Set the permissions to the new
user account in the new domain. Logoff, and have the user logon again. They
should have their old desktop.
