Help!!! Display Adaptor problem!

I've just inherited a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 from my brother (no drivers with
it).
I have a Pentium 2 sys (also inherited, trying to cobble together a 1/2
decent home sys for free).
I plugged the adaptor into my sys, all things seemed ok until I checked the
device in the device manager section of XP. What do I see? The old yellow
exclamation mark & a sys message that says "This device cannot start (Code
10)".
I downloaded the driver from the NVIDIA site in case this was the cause but
using this driver instead of the ones on XP makes no difference to the device
status.
I have all the necessary screen display etc. (otherwise I wouldn't be able
to type this), but the device refuses to show as being ok on device manager.
What do I need to do to get the device to 'agree' with my sys &, if I can't,
is it going to make a big difference to my ability to play games (not
graphically hungry games like Doom3 et al, just Age of Kings & games of that
genre)?
Any help/advice much appreciated.

I think your problem is that there are very few PII motherboards that
support AGP8 cards (most only support AGP1 or 2) - so you're likely to
either burn out the card or have other major problems - as you're finding
out!
check out your board's spec at the manufacturer's site.
