Help. Doc folder now in Desktop

Somehow I have a duplicate Documents folder on the Desktop. i.e.:
Desktop\Documents. Any changes made to this folder effect the "real"
documents folder under Username\Documents so I can't simply delete this new
documents folder.

I have always had a shortcut to the Documents folder on the desktop and
recently this Documents folder (with different icon) showed up. I deleted
the shortcut and only today trying to use SyncToy as usual discovered this
complication.

I regularly backup my desktop as well as my computer and having this new
10gb Document folder on the desktop is an unneeded complication.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi---

Assuming your drive is C:\ but just sub the drive letter where you have
installed Vista, why can't you type either in Search box or Run box or the
IE address bar

C:\Users\User Profile Name and when that explorer folder comes up, right
click drag and then select move to that folder or to the Documents folder if
this desktop folder is the entire documents content?

That should work; if it doesn't why not simply backup your documents folder
to DVDs and then simply shift+delete this folder on the desktop?

If it's an actual shortcut to your documents folder, deleting it shuld not
impact the actual original Documents folder.

Good luck,

CH

Thankyou. The mysterious part was the duplication of the doc folder in both
locations. However, I moved the folder from the desktop to user, and
deleted the option under properties to display the users on the desktop
(which also had suddenly appeared). All is back to normal. Very peculiar.
