Recently discovered that all of "My Documents" have been totally wiped out.
I tried system restore, checked Norton quarantine files, everything.

I did see that Windows pushed through two security updates recently,
KB912919 and KB908519 and am wondering if this could have had some malware
that would have done this. Is anyone else having a related problem? Any
advice on recovering my files?

Thanks.

A few things first stop using the computer and bring it to a shop that can
recover files(the more you use the computer the greater the change the data
will be lost). Second Windows Updates will not delete anything in
MyDocuments. Third make sure you are looking in MyDocuments, you may also
want to try and look into shared docuements. This assums you are running XP
SP2

Nothing in Windows Update will delete any of that data.
System Restore is not designed to and will not restore personal data.
Try searching for some of the data by name.
If you find one, you may find the rest.

Do you have any peer to peer file sharing installed?
If so, depending on how it is set up, someone may have deleted your data.

Check for viruses and spyware, follow the yellow section on this link:

You may need to restore the missing data from your back-ups.
