Help !!! Error 80072efd occurred while downloading update

I run XPSP1 with IE IE6SP2. Windows Update can list out all the critical
patches to be installed should but fails all the time whenever I click to
install.

I have tested this before and tested again following your advice, no help. I
think the reason being error code I receive is different.

Hmmmm.........the only other thing I can think of, offhand, is that the
download/install is being blocked by a third-party software firewall. If
you're using a software firewall (Norton Internet Security/Personal
Firewall, for example) try disabling the firewall and see if you are then
successful installing the updates.

Could you please download and install the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Support
Tools from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

After this please run the following command from a command prompt.

bitsadmin /reset /allusers

and then try the Windows Update site again.

Many Erics. It is doing the installation at the moment after following your
instruction. Do you know what has caused this problem from happening ? I have
no firewall running on my laptop. Once again, thanks.

Hi,

I'm also having the same problem, and tried all of your suggestions to
seeker01, and am still getting the same error. In installed the Windows XP
SP2, ran live update, and checked Symantec.

Any suggestions?
