hi! I've just re-installed vista in my hp pavilion dv1000 and just like the
first time I installed it,I totally had no audio but like what I did before,
I got it to work just fine after installing the Microsoft Universal Audio
Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio and the Conexant
High Definition Audio Driver for XP.
Unfortunately, I cant remember what I did before to get my embedded mic to
work. Can only recall that I went to safe mode and enabled somethin there but
cant figure out exactly what it was.
Anyways, I right-clicked the sound icon in my taskbar and under the
recording tab,it showed that the "Sum" device had been chosen by windows as
default. I tried to disable that and enabled the "Microphone" instead but no
luck at all. Also there's no level meter at the right side of the device as
well.
Please help me.I really have no idea at all whatsoever about what to do
next...thanks!

Am I correctly understanding you to say that you previously had Vista
installed on the same system with the microphone working properly?

he reason you're having such problems is that you are using the awful web
interface to participate in this newsgroup--it's the slowest, clunkiest,
most error-prone method there is. Do yourself a favor and switch to a
newsreader, such as Windows Mail, which comes with Windows Vista. See

Did you go to Control Panel > Sound > Recording to make sure the
microphone is set as the default recording device? Then did you go on to
Levels to make sure that the microphone volume slider is turned up?
