On the print spooler service, yes I did, but that did not work. I am ready to try
your next suggestion now. Hope that works. Thank you so much to put up with me.

(It is getting complicated now).

Yes

I tried to add it as a local printer on a port. The error is -
---
"Add printer

Unable to install printer. Operation could not be
completed (error 0x000006be)."
---

I guess all I can do now is to wait for the new driver for this HP LaserJet-1020 printer.
Seems like this error code does not have any clear description.

Thank you again.

Hi,

That error code usually indicates some corruption of an existing installed
or partially installed driver. Try the clean driver steps from MVP Bruce
Sanderson here, starting on step 6 with the registry edits, it's the same in
Vista as in XP and Win2K:

Let me go through the web-page -
http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm

I will keep you posted. Seems like to print from this Laptop, I have to\boot
on XP Pro., and that is what I am doing now. Thanks you so much for your
time and effort.

I finally got the network printers (running on XP Pro) able to print from this
Laptop (running Vista).

Yesterday I was able to locate the updated Hewlett-Packard Laserjet 1022
print drivers. After I updated the drivers, I was able to open the printers.

Thank you so much to put up with me. Thank you for all the help.
