Help! My laptop wont start-up.

I have just up graded to vista on my Acer laptop. It worked for a short while
but now my laptop wont start-up. I could have locked the screen, but all I
am getting when I switch on is a blank screen with a white pointer and
nothing else. The computer is not responding to any commands. It is not
running any of the upgrade discs I have reinserted. What do I do?

You can't even get into the BIOS? See any of the normal boot text before it
goes into Windows?

If it seems locked and won't go thru the normal BIOS power up, I'd suggest
removing the battery and AC, let it sit a while, then put both back in and
try powering on again.

Thank you! I did that for a few hours then it started in safe mode and
restored the system - weird. I hope it is ok now!
