Since you know the issue surfaced immediately after installing Nero
(inferred from your subject line since you left the details out of the
message body), here are some suggestions:

1. Start the computer in Safe Mode by repeatedly tapping the F8 key as the
machine is starting up. Use your arrow key to select Safe Mode from the
menu that appears. If you successfully get into Safe Mode, uninstall Nero.
Possibly you used an older version that isn't compatible with vista. Since
you didn't give details, that is just a guess.

2. If you can't uninstall Nero in Safe Mode, use System Restore to go back
to a date before you installed the program.

3. If you can't get into Safe Mode, boot your computer with your Vista
installation DVD and run System Restore from there.

How to run System Restore from the Vista DVD repair options:

If you don't have a real Vista operating system DVD, you can borrow a
friend's or use this:

This is why it is important to include *all* pertinent details in your
*first* post. Obviously I wouldn't have given you the answer I did had I
known that you'd uninstalled Nero.

Try repairing your Startup with the Vista DVD install disk. If that doesn't
work, you can try Vista's version of a Repair Install.

If that doesn't help then yes, do a clean install.
