You need to burn it to a blank DVD, the file is an ISO image. Instructions
can be found at the following link:

Do yourself a big favour and read all the infrmation at the following link before going any farther. Do not skip any of it. Make sure you read and understand it.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvist...y/preview.mspx

In particular make sure you understand the following:

"Installation limitations
There are two installation scenarios for Windows Vista Beta 2 (and RC1):
1.. You can do a clean installation. This process will overwrite any data that you have on your hard disk or on your installation partition. The overwritten data will be lost and unrecoverable.
2.. You can upgrade an existing installation of Windows XP.

No other installation scenarios are supported. Upgrading to this beta from any other edition of Windows requires a clean installation, as described in option 1. In addition, once you install Windows Vista Beta 2 (or RC1) you cannot roll back to the previous operating system installation—you will either have to acquire and install the final released edition of Windows Vista or reinstall a previous edition of Windows. Before installing Windows Vista Beta 2 on any computer, please remember to back up all your files."

What all the above means is that Vista is in the testing stage and still has bugs. Many things may not work properly. You may not be able to print. Some of your programs may not run. Vista may not even work at all on your computer. Most importantly: There is a very good chance that you may have to format your hard drive at some point losing everything that is on it.

All that said the first thing you have to do is burn the downloaded .iso file to a DVD. What DVD burning software do you have?

Remember, the disk must be burnt as an ISO image and not a data disk.
probably thats why its not booting setup.

Why are you trying to open the ISO image with Internet Explorer? It should
be burnt to a disk or use Virtual Drive software such as Daemon Tools or
NERO Image drive to install.

Hello Andre Da Costa, i am currently reading your blog " WC: Getting Ready
for Windows Vista BETA 2 - QuickStarter-FAQ [UPDATED]" and i find it very
informative, and i have come to a conclusion that i have been downloading all
bad downloads, everytime i receive a download I burn it, i am always greeted
with a message (setup.exe - Bad Image " The Allpication or Dll
D:\Vista\Sources\SPWIZENG.DLL is not a valid windows image, Please check this
against your installation diskette.") and when i click ok theres another that
says, (" (Windows Setup The file" autorun .dll" could not be loaded or is
corrupt. Setup cannot continue. Error code is [0xC1] this is about my 10th
download. now i know that i should do a partioned install, but i ran across
these when checking whats in the file after burning. if its not to much,
could you please fill me in as to what this is all about.

It's either me or the installs, my signiture is below, i built this comp
myself, so i am formillier with istalling and other things associated with
things of this nature. this is all i have at the moment, i am going back to
finish reading your blog, thank you in advance
