the sudden, the Windows Explorer keeps hanging - none of my programs will
work correctly - they try to open and then just hang there - Outlook,
corel - can't figure out why windows mail is working - but thought maybe
someone can help me before that shuts down too - Outlook will open and I can
sometimes view one or two emails and then it hangs ..

Well, I've been on the dell site for an hour now...no luck yet...

It's really weird FF and IE work, and Windows mail works - but if I right
click on the start icon, or try to open any of my programs
(word/corel/wperfect) they start to open and then just hang....

anyone here have any help at all?

Your best bet is to call Dell and work out the issue with them. Yes it
sucks but unless you want to wipe your system clean and start over, it's
best to call Dell and diagnose the issue with them.

One thing you can try is to start in Safe mode and see if your programs
work. If they do, then maybe you have a driver issue or it's possible a
virus. Run a virus scan in Safe mode also.

Try opening Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc) and seeing if there is any
indication as to what might be happening.
Try using a restore point before this problem started.

CALL them, or email them, or live chat with them. Your computer is
under WARRANTY.

I am having the same problem. I bought my computer a week ago. It's an HP
Pavillion m9400t with Vista Home Premium. The computer always works for
awhile after boot, but afterwards, if I leave my compter alone for a while,
it stops working. The cursor moves and the yellow boxes pop up with info, but
no programs will start after clicking on them. I always have to hard boot to
reset things. This isn't a computer problem, it's a Vista problem. Any
thoughts?
