Help. I have been having computer problems for 4 days now. It was so bad i
had to uninstall things and ended up having to recover my computer back to
orignal. But my windows updated doesn't appear to be working. It says this
......
Checking if your computer has the latest version of Windows updating
software for use with the website…

The website uses ActiveX controls to determine which version of the software
your computer is running. If you see an ActiveX warning, make sure the
control is digitally signed by Microsoft before installing it or allowing it
to run.

But nothing appears at the top for be to allow, but nothing tells me it is
doing anything but keeping this message for along time. What am i doing wrong?
I have Windows XP.
Thanks for any help.

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP
installation:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144

NB: Also applies to clean installs, upgrade installs, and Recovery installs.

Seeing as you've restored - try Method 2 in this article
Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or by
using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP installation

Post back with results and/or if you need further assistance.
