help pls - can't get out of disk check

I've been ripping CD's to disk. During this process, there are 2 folders
that have files in them, I can listen to them, but 'properties' shows that
the folders contain 0 bytes.
If I try and move either of these folders or delete them I get the message
that the folder is no longer in that location, but I can still play the
files inside these folders! I've tried renaming them, but as they aren't
where they're supposed to be - I can't.

So I thought I'd run a disk check on my D: drive
The disk check completed after nearly 4 hours and found no problems (I also
request bad sector checks) there was no on-screen instruction as to what to
do when the process finished, so after several minutes I pressed the on/off
switch to force a re-boot
Then it started the disk check again, but can be interrupted by pressing the
Enter key within 10 secs.
I pressed the enter key - no response - I thought that as I have a bluetooth
kbd/mouse this may be the problem
so I connected a wireless USB keyboard and re-booted - still the Enter key
has no effect and the disk check was initialized again
I do not have a wired keyboard so I can't seem to be able to perform a
normal boot, my only option seems to be to run disk check forever as it
starts automatically every time I boot

I tried going into setup on booting (so my Bluetooth kbd worked at this
stage) - no options there to help

Any suggestions as to how I can get out of this loop please and secondary,
any ideas as to where these folders are - I have searched for files within
the folders but advanced search shows 0 results. If I search for the folders
themselves, search shows that they are where I thought they are, but the
system does not think they are there .

Many thanks
Pete

You will need to let it run to completion...

just walk away and come back a few hours later...

I've worked on machine that required a number of hours to run to
completion..but once done, all problems were solved

To cancel disk check, open an Admin command prompt and type "chkntfs /x d:"
(without the quotes) then press the Enter key.

1. You can kill the chkdsk process either with the task manager or even
easier with Process Explorer ( 'Process Explorer'
2. From the message you receive, it looks like those folders were
deleted and are no more on your system. I'd just rip the disks anew.

Btw: What were you trying to accomplish with chkdsk?

Thanks for your reply - I did allow it to run to completion, around 4
hours - it said something to the effect - Disk Check complete - no errors
found - and there it sat until I rebooted, then off it went again on a disk
check

Thanks again
Pete

Check in the BIOS for a setting to enable a USB keyboard. It's sometimes
called Enable USB legacy devices. This should get the USB keyboard working
so you can press a key to bypass the chkdsk.

WOW - thanks for all your help and suggestions!!
My neighbour had an old wired keyboard in his loft - plugged that in and
problem solved!!

Interesting that neither Bluetooth nor USB wireless kbds worked in this
instance, whereas both work to access Startup BIOS POST etc - which is also
before the op sys has loaded.... ?? only a wired PS-2 style kbd would work

I guess maybe had I left it to complete a further scan, it may have
completed successfully i just just didn't want to wait another 4ish hours.
The long pause with just a static DOS screen for many minutes was too
frustrating 1st time round - if i'd left overnight would prob had the
desktop showing in the morn.... hey ho, i'll try one day - maybe

I have been ripping quite heavily, so it is poss as suggested in the link
provided by kword88 that indexing hasn't caught up yet - not too bothered
really.

Thanks again to all for your helpful replies

Pete
