Hi I have recently been having problems with windows automatic update, for
some reason it has disableditself I have followed the troubleshooting tips
like going to strt, run and then typing services.msc and trying to change
settings to automatic but when it comes to starting the process I get error
message 1058 which states it is unabl to start due to no devices using the
service. Anybody know how to rectify this problem?

I'min the same boat today. I just formatted my HD this past Monday and today
my AU says it's disabled. I'm also getting LOTS of popups today. I am running
Norton 360.

Try reinstalling the AU Service - see this article -

You receive a "Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested
page" error message when you try to install an update
