Help Receiving files and/or turning off windows security

Everytime i want a receive a song MSN Blocks it from my computer. It wont
allow to me open it...Im so frustrated with this i tried calling MSN and
Windows. they are all helpess to me...

the windows security window pops up when i click the link to open the file
eg. a song a friend would send. the warning tells me that the file is harmful
but i know that it isn't. it tells me how to open the file if i trust the
sender and file but i cant go to the file and unblock it because it was
already blocked...nothing works....

does any1 know what i am talking about??? can any1 help me????????

I know exactly what you're talking about.

Firstly, click the Tools menu (or press Alt-T if the menu is hidden), then Options, then File
Transfer category and uncheck 'Automatically reject file transfers for known unsafe file
types'.

Next download and run the following .reg file and then reboot:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/extfix.reg

Should be fine after that.

Hey Jonathan,

The box was already unchecked...ive tried a # of things and did lots of
reading and searching for how to turn this stupid blocker off...i think
norton blocks it...not sure
