Hello from Belgium,
I've a Vista X64 working on my computer after a corruption comes with a
simple USB product, I want to restore my computer with all fixes and
program.:geek:
I've make a full restore image from the backup and restore center.
When I try to use the recovery console with the DVD, It's says that he
cannot restore a X64 arch. with a X86 program...
I've only a X64 OS on my computer and the DVD containt all of the Vista
operating system..
How should I launch the X64 recovery console?arty:
Or if it's not possible could I extract manually the files from the
backup archives and replace it on the C: drive?

Thanks a lot for your light ,
Roger

I think maybe the point of the links that Carey gave you was to use the
Recovery options of the install DVD to get your system running again.
From there, you can open Windows Backup and perform a Complete PC
Restore...

Hello Dzomlija,
Yes you right, As I 've Script on first message, I've use the DVD and
the recovery console on it,
So It's the recovery console on the DVD says that it cannot restore a
X64 arch. with a X86 program...
I've only a X64 OS on my computer and the DVD containt all of the
Vista
operating system..

So I think that the install and the following program "recovery
console" work on X86 base...

So my question remain still the same:
How should I launch the X64 recovery console?

Or if it's not possible could I extract manually the files from the
backup archives and replace it on the C: drive?
On searching on the Web I've try the new virtual machine 2007 from
microsoft that work with vhd file, but I can't extract the folders and
files from it...

Thanks

Roger

Sorry, I wish I could help more, bit I've never needed to use the
Recovery Console for X64, so I can't say how to start it.

Have you tried to not use the Recovery Console and instead do a Repair
Install? This could result in lost data, but you have previously
mentioned that you do have an existing Full PC Backup that you can use?

Once you have done a Repair Install, boot normally (if repair worked),
then run Backup and do a full system restore. That should work if
nothing else does...

Hello Dzomlija,
I've try those ways, but the full system restore need to be off session
and the repair install use restore point of the system, but the wrong
configuration has not coming from a install program or anything that was
logged on the restore point and this feature could not help me anymore.

I've found a program "Winimage" that could extract the files from the
..vhd file made by the system resotre of windows, I will try to put
manually all the file to their original location after formating the
partition with Unbutu live cd.

Thanks a lot for your reply, have a nice day

roger
