Right-click on the Desktop, click Personalize, and in the left pane, click Change desktop icons. In the Desktop Icon Settings dialog, enable the Recycle Bin checkbox. Click OK. See also:

Not sure how but my recycle bin dissappeared on my VISTA HOME PREMIUM
desktop. I made a short cut but have not figured out how to restore the
original to the desktop. I saw a regard on here thanking someone for the
answer but could not fond the answer. I would greatly appreciate any help
