Hi
I am running vista ultimate, every time I start my PC it wants to scan my
external drive for problems, I have allowed this many times and it still
does the same thing everytime vista boots, is there a way to stop this?
(apart from switching to linux which someone is bound to tell me)

Thanks

Gordon

Remove your external drive from your computer when it starts up. Then
disable your Administrator account to keep you out of trouble. You know
what happens when you play around with the Administrator account, your
system gets all screwed up. Take your machine to the Geek Squad over at
Best Buy and someone with experience will be glad to help you.

Hi
No I haven't screwed up my PC lol, I live in the UK anyway so we don't
have a Best Buy, we have a PC world and I wouldn't take it to them if they
were the last people on this earth, I built the PC myself and it works fine
apart from the Scan disk problem, it also checks every USB data stick I plug
in too and never finds anything wrong with them either, so I am stumped, I
have a fair bit of PC no-how but this one is getting to me, just wondered if
anyone had had this problem before

cheers all and thanks

Gordon

Did you try to find a location where this feature is allowed and then just
disable it?
(Just a wild guess, but maybe worthwhile persuing).

Harry.

Hi
thanks for all your help, I came across a forum with the same problem being
talked about, some guy offered running this command chkntfs /x c: f: I did
and the problem has gone away, I will probably pay for this later on but for
now all is quiet with scandisk.

thanks again

Gordon
