Dean,

Sorry for the delay, but I actually got some sleep.

While I am connected to the Internet via a router, on this side, it is a one
computer network. I tried running in SAFE mode. No go. Let's hope that
Darrell can come up with something from the complete log.

On a weird note, I renamed the CBS log to let the system create a new one.
And, guess what. I can't get into the new log. I even rebooted, but no go.
It won't let me look inside the log now. What's that all about?

I'm really thankful for your guy's help with this. I've posted things in
the past and had absolutely zero responses. A MSFT told me that that was
because no one any idea how to solve my question.

I used to be a lot of fun in school. I always went around asking, "Is the
sky falling?", "Is the sky falling?". (:~)

I'll be looking for Darrell's feedback. It should be interesting.

Later...

Hello Dean,
The CBS.log will automatically rename itself and start a new log when it
reaches around 50 meg.
The renamed log file will be cbs.persist.log and be located in the same
folder
Thanks,
Darrell Gorter[MSFT]

The latest version can be found here:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Interne...Locate32.shtml

Download the zip file, right-click the zip file and choose Properties. On
the General tab, click Unblock (Apply, OK). Extract the files to a folder,
and name the folder Locate. Cut the Locate folder, and Paste into the
Program Files folder. Open the folder you just moved, and right-click on
Locate32.exe. Choose Send To > Desktop (create shortcut). (From there, you
can put it where you want, and name the shortcut Locate.) Open the Locate
program , and on the menu, choose File > Update Database > Default. You
will see a progress indicator in the notification area of your Taskbar. It
should take all of about 2 minutes. You're ready to go.

STOP THE PRESSES!!!....I fix it.

All I had to do was, replaced the motherboard, the power supply, and the
chassis. Then, we had to reformat the HDD and reinstall Vista, because of
HAL...(Thank you very much, HAL...Not at all, Dave.) It only cost me $350
and the tech through in his service for free. Now as a result of running
sfc /SCANNOW, I get.......

Verification 99% complete.
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

At first, I thought it had broken out at 99%. That would have been weird
until I read the second line.

Dean...you are a trouper. Thank for staying with me on this. There is a
website that could really use your expertise.
It's http://www.pchelpforum.com/. Check them out.

Darrell, time is life, so thanks for giving my part of your live. It is
appreciated.

Apparently, the mixture of Korean hardware and American software don't mix.
I replaced the motherboard because the BIOS was shaky. Apparently, they
took a copy of an American BIOS and modified it to go with their
motherboard. Apparently, more than the BIOS was hosed.

Again, thanks all for your help...see you on the other side.

PS. I think it was the new chassis that really fix the problem. (:~)

P.S.S. Dean....I could still use that "Locate" home page.

Hello William,
Thanks for the update.
This was showing corruption in the store( the missing folder was causing
SFC to fall over and stop working).
Fixing the store is not easily done and recommendation is usually to
reinstall the OS.
There could have been more problems, this was just the first one we found.

Thanks,
Darrell Gorter[MSFT]

The presses have stopped. William, congratulations on your new HAL 10000!
(I hear the 9000 Series wasn't all it was cracked up to be; integrity
violations galore, but at least you're still alive). Sounds like you went
hogwild at Hardware Heaven.

The Link for the program Locate is in the post you replied to. But anyway,
since HAL might have eaten your homework, here it is again:

The latest version of Locate can be found here:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Interne...Locate32.shtml

Download the zip file, right-click the zip file and choose Properties. On
the General tab, click Unblock (Apply, OK). Extract the files to a folder,
and name the folder Locate. Cut the Locate folder, and Paste into the
Program Files folder. Open the folder you just moved, and right-click on
Locate32.exe. Choose Send To > Desktop (create shortcut). (From there, you
can put it where you want, and name the shortcut Locate.) Open the Locate
program, and on the menu, choose File > Update Database > Default. You
will see a progress indicator in the notification area of your Taskbar. The
database update should take all of about 2 minutes. You're ready to go.
(You can update the database as you see fit, or have Locate do it for you
automatically at startup, which option is available in Options > Settings >
Advanced tab, under the "System" heading.
