I just installed the SP2 update
most everything seems to be ok

but I have one site that I use that needs activeX
and it says that I need to install the activeX controls

this site worked ok before the SP2 update

I know that there is a setting or two that needs changed

I have the safe activeX boxes marked enabled in
internet explorer / tools / internet options / security / custom level

I do not get the yellow security bar that says install activex
so does anyone know what I might have changed to make that go away
I did a reboot to see if it came back and it did not

please tell me what am I need to do

thanks so much

Hello Bonnie,

If you are allowing Activex, but you do not see the prompt to install, it's likely the SP2 changes on popups.
(Just be sure you have faith & trust that the site is OK.)

Give this a try. Put that website into the Trusted Sites list (for example, if it is your online banking site) and or put it into the popup-blocker exclusion list.

Trusted site: I'll use "yoursite" as an example.

Internet Explorer > main menu /Tools/Internet Options >

Security Tab/ click on green icon Trusted Sites/click Sites button.

Look very closely at line that says:

"Require server verification (https for all sites in this zone" to
*clear* the selection.
(e.g. You want that to be un-checked (un-ticked)).

In the "Add this Web site to the zone:" field, add *your trusted website* to list of "Trusted Sites" --

type
http://www.yoursite.com (click Add)

Click OK. Apply changes to IE browser.

Place site into Exceptions list (to get around Pop-up blocking):
Internet Explorer > main menu /Tools/Popup Blocker>Pop-up Blocker settings

In block titled "Address of Web site to allow" type in www.yoursite.com , then click Add, then press Close.

See if that makes the difference.
