I recently found this procedure to work for a similar intractable problem.

On the Start/Run line enter: net stop wuauserv

Open Explorer and Delete these folders:
\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\SelfUpdate
\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\WebSetup
\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\WuRedir
\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\AuthCabs
\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore
\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download

On the Start/Run line enter: net start wuauserv

Restart the computer, being sure you log in with an account that has
full Administrator privileges. Then open one instance of IE and give
the Windows Update site another try.

I also have this error (0x8024402f) on 10 computers all at the same time. I
have been talking to microdoft through e-mail for 3 weeks and nothing. I
have tried the solutions on here and nothing. This is getting very
frustrating and is desperately under referenced.

Error number: 0x800703E7

I tried the things listed in your post to get rid of the abover error, but
they did not work for me. I have been getting this error for several weeks.
Now with ZOTOB out there and it variants, I need to get these updates
installed. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Here is a workaround you can use to get the latest security updates:

You can download security updates from Microsoft Download Center:

Microsoft Download Center
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/

You will find direct download links in the security bulletins as well:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/bu...s/default.mspx

E.g. download links for the fix that stops the latest worms are to
be found here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms05-039.mspx

Then you have some Web sites that will give you direct download
links for updates (the update links are pointing to a Microsoft
server):

http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/index.html

http://kurttrail.com/microscum/postsp2/
