help with Ultimate backup problem

I installed Ultimate onto C:
I also have an existing outboard big Maxtor Hard drive (G

I went to Backup/Restore Center. I was able to create a Restore POint.to
both inboard drives and also to this Maxtor Outboard terabyte drive

I selected the G: drive
next page I selected the types of files
next page I set up the schedule for later today
It says:
Because this is your first backup, it will create a new backup now
click on save settings and start backup now

I get an error message saying my settings are invalid

How do I fix this. Please? I really wish to protect my files
