Help for updates fail to install 0x800704dd

My machines are set for automatic updates, but once a quarter, I do a manual
update from the website. My last automatic update was on Feb 18, 2006.

When trying to check manual updates, I first encountered the problem with
Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130). Using suggestions on
this page, I was able to find a work-around. My copy of windows has been
validated / activated.

Now, however, the new updates won’t install. The downloader thinks they’ve
been downloaded showing 0 download time, but I’m not so sure. (Corrupted?) I
disabled all virus / spyware programs and emptied the
softwaredistribution/download folder, but all updates still fail to install.
My windowsupdate.log is shown below.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I had seen that and tried everything except the regedits.
None of the listed entries occur in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\SensLogn
but they all occur in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify_Disabled\SensLog n

Should I delete them in Notify_Disabled? I was hesitant to try

Hi,

No, don't delete it. Instead, rename the registry key
"Notify_Disabled" to "Notify", and reboot the computer.
