Help With Vista, New Partition on Xternal Drive.

Ok, im here asking for help
first of all, i got myselt a new laptop
came with vista
But now, i want to install XP to m
external hard drive, i've alread
tried the normal way, which i
inserted the windows xp original cd
booted from it, formated, the new external hd
but, when it comes to restart after the formating
it restarts but the screen goes black
and after that nothin happens
a friend told me that there is a special way o
doing it, but he didnt tell me how to
so im here asking for help, .

Hi,

XP cannot be installed to an external drive.
