Help!! Vista wouldnt respond so i cut the power and now it wont st

I was playing a game and the game disconncted, so i hit Alt+tab to go out and
a skype error message saying Bad image or something like that appeared. it
flashed on the screen for half a second before the screen went black from the
Alt+tab. 10 minutes later the screen was still black but the computer was
still making some noises like the HDD was doing something. i pulled the
battery out and the computer turned off. i tryed to reboot. the light around
the power button turned on and the disc drive started up but the HDD, fans,
screen, and anything else you can see or hear when it is on didn't start up.
5 seconds later the light around the power button turned off. then 5 seconds
later the light turned back on and nothing but the light and the disc drive
are on again. it just sitts there with the light in and the disc drive making
noise and the scrren blank until you pull the battery out. it wont respond to
any user inout except when you turn it on and after that you press the power
button again and it doesnt turn off. i tried puting the recovery disc in but
all it does is make noises like its being read and sits there. please tell me
if you know how to fix this.

Sounds like either the motherboard or the hard drive failed. You need to
locate a technician in your area or contact the system manufacturer if it's
under warranty.
