Hi,
There is no in-depth file types utility in Vista like there was in previous
versions of Windows. However, if you go to the Control Panel/Default
Programs, there is a link to associate a file type with a program. Also,
many media players (WMP included) also have settings within their
options/preferences to set them as the default player for certain file
types.
