Add me to the list of those with the 0x80070005 error. I've been through
every fix I can find, tried them all, and still no results. Checked
admin permissions, RESET permissions, ran filemon, procmon, subinacl,
and MGADiag which gave me no resolutions. Tried running Update with
admin options, some error on catalog website that I can't get past. Temp
folder was encrypted, decrypted it and all subfolders/files, still did not
work. Rebooted and all files in temp folder were then gone.

Checked update log and found the following:

while downloading update; notifying dependent calls.

No real clue what any of this means, pretty much have been navigating
blindly through it all. Only these two updates are having problems right
now: Security Update for Windows XP (KB956802) and Update for Windows XP
(KB955839).

On 12/21 these two updates were first up and failed, while other 6
updates ran fine: Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP
(KB960714), Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - December 2008
(KB890830), Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer
7 for Windows XP (KB958215), Security Update for Windows XP
(KB954600), Security Update for Windows XP Service Pack 3
(KB952069), Windows XP Root Certificates Update. Since then, it's only
been these two failing.

ANY assistance greatly appreciated! I'm one step away from wiping the whole
PC out! Thank you!
