Help!..Windows Update isn't working properly!

It downloads Updates OK but nothing will install.
It doesn't show ANYTHING in the download history either!?

I 've dutifully read lots of threads about it on this site but am
overwhelmed by the scale of the problem and diversity of fixes.

Is this a known issue with MS? There seem to be shed-loads of people with
similar problems.

What should I do??
I don't know much about codes and scripts or registries....didn't realise I
had to.

Will MS fix it themselves do you suppose...otherwise won't all these
computers get vulnerable to security issues?

I am having the same problem also. I have been through every inch of this
computer, and there is nothing on my end that I have done that is causing
this. I was not even able to download security updates from the microsoft
site, let alone from the automatic microsoft updates that I have set up on my
computer. There is no way to update it so it appears.
In the interim, someone has broken into my computer from it not being
updated. I have written to microsoft, but as of yet, I have had no help with
this.
