A BIOS update does not have anything to do with system restore.
The BIOS (Basic In/Out System) is a separete chip on the mainboard.
While BIOS changes can affect some parts of the OS, I find it hard to
believe that it would make your taskbar & IE toolbar disappear.
If in doubt, reflash the BIOS to the original version.
Most BIOS update programs prompt you to save the old BIOS so you can restore
the last version.
Just run the flash program again and select the old version.
Let us know what happens.

If you are sure you made NO other changes...
Reflash it with the *previous* bios...
in the future...do NOT attempt to modify a working bios!

Your comment is out of line and illogical.
If the previous bios worked fine...
but the new one caused problems...
the OP should of course use the *working* version.

The wrong thing to do was to have tried updating a *working* bios.

A bios upgrade should NEVER be performed unless it has specific features the
user requires
that are not present in the original bios.

Too many people think erroneously that anytime something new comes out...it
should be used!

the bios has nothing to do with the problem

you should not try to flash bioses if its not important.. RIGHT.. this means
that its stupid to flash back the old one..

each time you flash something can go wrong...

now who is being illogical?

yep, you, the stupid one.
