hello

i want to change license server role from my DC to a member server which its
name is srv2.

my DC computer name is srv1.

i used active directory sites and services to changing role...I run this
console as administrator ( Run as ).

in srv2, i tried to use licensing logging in administrator tools...but i got
error which means that my srv2 server tries to query database from srv1.

what should i do ? i want srv2 to query itself.

I post this issue in many websites such as askageek & microsoft technet &
yahooanswer & ....
but still there is no any answer! why ? is this question hard ?

Hello A.Farahani,

You should come down and give the people here time to check your problem.
There is no need to cry around or blame MVPs or other people answering here.

If you are under time pressure, you should open a support call at Microsoft.

I never blame MVPs !

I want only an answer!!! I am practicing in vmware for passing my exam (
70-290 ) !
yes, I am under time pressure.

do you know what can I do for this issue?

I changed license server from srv1 (DC) to srv2 ( member server ).
I want srv2 licensing logging service to query itself, not the past license
server (DC).

if you know how much this update could take time, please suggest.
should I run a command to forcing licensing logging service on srv2 to query
itself ?

Hello A.Farahani,

Did you follow all steps included in this article, it is not just changing
the server name in AD sites and services:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...07(WS.10).aspx

Also keep in mind that the license logging service never works as expected
from Microsoft. I don't know about people using this service. because of
that reasons Microsoft has removed that service since September 2004 in all
newer OS versions then Windows server 2003.

Best regards

To Meinholf: Did you mean "calm down"?

To A.Farahani: English is probably not your first language. You may
therefore not realise that the phrase "Hey MVP! Answer my question!"""
sounds like a short, sharp order given by a person of authority. There is
nothing polite about it.

MVPs are volunteers, not Microsoft employees, and they volunteer to give
some of their time and expertise to the general Windows community. A more
appropriate subject might therefore have been "Licence server question"
(this is a short summary of your question). In your post you could have said
"Could someone (perhaps an MVP) please answer this question for me?". And
instead of closing with "but still there is no any answer! why ? is this
question hard ?", you might have written "I have checked several forums but
have not been able to get a reply so far. I would greatly appreciate your
answer. Thank you!"

In this way you would get more and better answers. The important words are
"Please" and "Thank you".

Thank you for your explanation.
yes, I read that article in both MS press 70-290 & on the internet.

I think you right, this service is not working well.

anyway, I should forget this lesson.

Not to mention that a lot of non MVPs are as smart or smarter than the
MVPs. Asking for replies from MVPs only is a bit of an insult to the
others and you are limiting the amount and caliber of help that you
might otherwise receive. I might occasionally answer some of these
posts but generally I find these posts a bit insulting to the whole
group and even I as an MVP usually don't bother answering. I learn too
much and read too many interesting posts from all kinds of posters in
these groups to limit myself to trusting only posts made by MVPs!

John

When you start a thread with a subject like you did many of us will not
answer your question out of respect for the newsgroup and because you've
not shown respect for the newsgroup.

This is not a PAID area, MVP's are here of their own free will and free
time, and you are not owed an answer just because you post a question.

People that CAN help WILL help as the get time, unless the
subject/content is rude.
