WRONG. If it did not, then you would not have been able to uninstall it.
You may have missed the archiving notice which occurs during the initial
installation page.
Three MAIN reasons why Users have difficulty installing SP2 :
1) - The presence of ad|spy|malware on the system that the User is
unaware of.
2) - Drivers that need to be updated prior to installing SP2
3) - The general "health" of XP. If you've kept the disk defragmented,
checked the hard drive(s) state with chkdsk, empty temp and temp
internet files regularly, and have had no issues with the system
previously, then you will generally not have issues with SP2. If you've
had issues with the system, the LAST thing you want to do is install SP2.
Since SP2 is in essence a "new" release of XP, I'll wager you dollars to
donuts that most of the issues arise from the 3 ones listed.
