Hi everyone. First time on this forum, but have been on Vista for 3-4 days
now. I have a question regarding the icons on the desktop. Is there any way
to remove the square when hovering over the icons? XP didn't have this issue,
if I remember right.

This is a standard feature of Windows Vista. You'll notice that the
"square" is a lighter shade when hovering the mouser over an icon than
that of when an icon is selected.

The highlighting help you to see where the clickable areas are of icons
on the desktop and in windows explorer.

Not unless you choose Classic Mode will you remove the squares.
