hidden account logon?

Ok. I have a vista home premium on my daughters laptop. It has her account,
which we'll call "account A". Its an admin acct.

Then we have my account, "Account B", which is also an admin acct.

I went into the registry to hide my account from the logon screen, as I have
done before in XP.

After I modified the registry, her account is the only one visible at the
welcome screen, which is what I want.

The problem is, at the vista welcome screen, hitting ctrl-alt-del does not
bring up the alternate logon box as it did in XP, so I cant login to my
hidden account.

How can I make this work, or is there another, better way to do this in
vista?

Umm only in XP PRO. XP Home does not have the Ctl-Alt-Del logon. You
have Vista Home - the same rule applies.

Well I dont do much with xp home boxes anymore but I could have sworn ive
done the ctrl-alt-del logon before on one.

Hi Bill

In Vista, after you press Ctrl+Alt+Del, you can use the "Switch User
or "Log Off" option to then see the log on screen for the othe
available created user accounts. If you would like the built-i
Administrator account, then this tutorial below will help show you ho
to enable it so that it will be available at the log on screen

On my XP Home SP3 laptop, ctrl-alt-del brings up a 'Log On to Windows' box
with place for User Name and Password.

For my Vista home Premium
In the User Accounts window,
Advanced tab
Secure logon area
there is a box for
Require users to press Ctrl-Alt-Delete

I don't have mine set that way so don't know the consequences of checking
that box.

From windows Help...
In Windows XP, the Welcome screen could be turned on or off. In this version
of Windows, the Welcome Screen can't be turned off. Fast User Switching is
turned on by default.

I don't have a spare Vista PC to test this on, (and no Vista Home
versions for that matter), but you might try CTRL+ALT+DEL twice. I seem
to remember having to do that in XP to get the username/password login
dialog in XP in some circumstances, don't know if it is the same in
Vista or not.

Perhaps not really relevant but why do you want to hide from your daughter
that you have a logon account on her laptop?
